AIPaw browser extension

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the AIPaw browser extension processes, how it is used and stored, and when it is shared with third parties.

Core principles

AIPaw puts AI chat, a prompt library, and an AI tools directory in your browser sidebar. We follow data-minimization and local-first principles: keys, bookmarks, and history remain in your browser; conversations and screenshots are sent directly to the AI service you configure only when you submit them. We do not sell your data.

Data we process

DeepSeek API key

The DeepSeek API key entered in Settings is stored only in your browser through chrome.storage.local. It is not uploaded to our servers and is sent only to the endpoint you configure when you start a conversation.

Messages and images

Messages, referenced prompts or text, and pasted images are sent directly to the configured DeepSeek endpoint to generate a response. We do not proxy, retain, or analyze this content.

Page screenshots

When you choose Screenshot or Annotate, the extension captures the visible area of the current tab and can send it to DeepSeek with your message. Screenshots are not uploaded to our servers or stored locally for the long term.

Bookmarks and conversation history

Bookmarked prompts, tools, text, and conversation history are stored only in chrome.storage.local so they can be restored later. This data does not leave your device.

Prompt and tool data

The extension retrieves public prompt and AI tool listings from 00011000.com in read-only requests. These requests do not include personally identifying information.

Permissions

The extension requests these permissions:

  • storage: Stores your API key, settings, bookmarks, and conversation history locally.
  • activeTab / tabs: Identifies the active tab so the extension can open its sidebar, capture the current page on request, and update state when you switch tabs.
  • host_permissions (all sites) / content scripts: Lets you target an input field, insert a prompt, annotate a page, or take a screenshot. Page content is accessed only after an action you initiate; it is not collected in the background.

Third-party services

AI responses are provided by DeepSeek. When you start a conversation, the relevant content is sent directly to the DeepSeek endpoint configured in Settings and is governed by DeepSeek’s own privacy policy. Apart from that, the extension only retrieves public prompt and tool listings from 00011000.com.

Storage and deletion

Local data is stored in chrome.storage.local. You can clear the API key in Settings at any time or remove the extension to delete its local data. Uninstalling removes locally stored keys, bookmarks, and conversation history.
