Small Parameter Count Is the Biggest Selling Point

The convention for video-generation models is to win by brute force—tens of billions of parameters, cloud-only. SANA-WM does the opposite: a 2.6B footprint means a consumer GPU has a shot at running it, and a coherent one-minute duration exceeds many models ten times its size. The "world model" positioning is also worth noting—it emphasizes not just good-looking visuals but modeling of physical and scene consistency, which is the key threshold for video models to become usable.

Open Source Doubles Its Weight

Open weights make it a different proposition. Video generation was previously dominated by a few closed-source products, leaving researchers and small teams to feel out the elephant through an API.
