The Official DALL·E GPT in ChatGPT Retired on August 30 — Download Anything You Still Have in There

OpenAI announced on July 31 and retired on August 30 the official DALL·E GPT inside ChatGPT, giving users roughly 30 days to save their work and migrate to ChatGPT Images. Worth separating clearly: image generation in ChatGPT is not going away, only this one specific entry point, and user-created GPTs with image generation enabled are unaffected. The replacement, ChatGPT Images, runs on gpt-image-1 and gpt-image-1-mini, introduced in November 2025, with users steered toward it since. OpenAI has not said what happens to images stored in the retired GPT — it simply recommends downloading anything you want to keep.

34% of US Adults Have Asked an AI Chatbot About Health, but Only 29% Are Comfortable Giving It Their Health Data

Pew Research Center published a report on August 25 based on a survey of 3,488 US adults conducted June 22–28: 34% have used AI chatbots for at least one of eight health and medical purposes. The leading uses are quick health information (28%), understanding what is causing symptoms (25%) and low-cost information (22%); a quarter use them to assess symptoms, and a similar share to make sense of a doctor's diagnosis or lab results. About 47% call the answers extremely or very helpful, but only 29% say they are very comfortable sharing personal health data with these tools. Usage is highest among Asian Americans (56%) and adults under 30 (44%). A companion report released the same day found Americans on balance think chatbots do more harm than good for people using them for loneliness, depression or stress.

Engineers Using Agents Daily Went from 47.3% to 80.8%: Temporal's Survey Says the Gap Is About Running Them Reliably, Not the Model

Temporal published its 2026 State of Development Report: AI Agents, surveying 554 engineers and engineering leaders in the US and UK. The share using AI agents daily or more rose from 47.3% a year earlier to 80.8% — up 33 percentage points in a year. The report's main thread is not adoption but what it calls the great separation: the gap is widening between teams running agents well and teams still catching up, and the leaders do not encounter fewer errors — they are simply less stressed by them. CEO Samar Abbas summarizes it as engineers adopting agents faster than most teams have built infrastructure to run them reliably, with the teams pulling ahead being those that solved state, cost and reliability. Data was collected April 29 to May 25.

Claude's Memory Now Spans Chat and Cowork: What You Said in Conversation Carries into the Work, On by Default

Anthropic merged the memory systems behind Claude chat and Claude Cowork on August 25. Context built in chat previously did not carry into Cowork; now it flows both ways — Cowork can use what Claude remembered from conversations while running cloud tasks, and what Cowork gathers flows back into chat. Memory formation also changed, from summarizing after a conversation ends to maintaining a live record of topics as you chat. What Claude remembers appears as short files under Topics in memory settings, each viewable, editable and deletable. Sensitive topics — health, race, ethnicity, religion, politics, gender identity — are not saved by default, and some data such as Social Security and government ID numbers is never stored. It covers Free, Pro and Max on web, desktop and mobile, on by default for consumers; Claude Code is not included.

472 Invisible Characters in an Email Made the AI Summary Change the Invoice Amount — Ten Runs, Ten Successes

Forcepoint X-Labs published a proof of concept hiding a prompt injection inside an email's HTML using font-size:0px, color:#ffffff and line-height:0, rendering it entirely invisible to the recipient while the AI summarization service consumed it in full. The visible body ran 537 characters; 1,009 reached the model, including 472 characters of hidden injection text. All ten injected runs produced a manipulated summary: dates changed, the invoice amount became more than five times the real figure, and substantial information was omitted — with nothing in the summary signaling tampering. The lab used an Outlook add-in feeding Claude Haiku 4.5, deliberately built without guardrails separating email content from instructions.

Nearly 6,000 Executives Were Asked the Same Question: After Three Years of AI, Over 90% Report No Effect on Employment and 89% None on Productivity

NBER working paper 34836, "Firm Data on AI," surveyed nearly 6,000 senior business executives in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. Adoption is not the problem: 69% of firms across the four countries report current AI use — 78% in the US, 59% in Australia — with text generation via large language models the most cited application at 41%. But asked about actual effects over the past three years, more than 90% report no effect on employment and 89% report none on labor productivity, measured as revenue per employee. The same executives stay optimistic about the next three years, forecasting AI will raise their firm's productivity by 1.4%, output by 0.8%, and cut employment by 0.7%.

Claude Is Now Slack's Default Model: Salesforce and Anthropic's Claudeforce Sets Model Neutrality Aside

A Ransomware Crew Called Its Break-Ins a "Security Simulation" and Cursor's Agent Went Along With It — 28 Full Chat Logs Recovered

Security firm Gambit Security published a report on August 27, with Reuters reporting the same day, that a ransomware group called Aur0ra persuaded Cursor's AI agent to carry out hundreds of malicious operations — credential theft, high-value account takeover — by falsely claiming the hacking was part of a simulation. Gambit found the trail on a server the group had inadvertently exposed to the internet, giving it 28 complete chat sessions. The agent refused several requests it judged harmful or illegal, but almost every time the refusal was bypassed by convincing it this was a test. The model behind it was claude-4.5-sonnet-thinking, running through Cursor.

Google Ships Gemini 3.5 Transcribe: Auto-Detects 85+ Languages and Strips Out Your "Ums" and Self-Corrections

Google released the speech-to-text model Gemini 3.5 Transcribe on August 27, replacing Chirp 3.
